There are quite a few projects for Mt. Bethel in the SPLOST III proposed projects! On the outside of the building, the parking lot and drive would be resurfaced and the playscapes would be replaced. Inside the building, the flooring would be replaced and the interior and exterior of the building painted. New ball valve shut-off valves for the plumbing would be installed and a fire supression system (sprinklers) would be added to the unsplinkered portion of the building. The transfer switch would be replaced in the Emergency Generator and the T-12 lamps would be replaced with T-8 lamps to help make our school more energy efficient.
In addition, Mt. Bethel would benefit from the continued replacement of obsolete workstations and teacher computers, replacement of copiers and printers, and the maintainence of the district network. The existing phone system would be replaced and enhanced and a centralized video distribution system would be available for professional development. Audio visual equipment and interactive classroom devices are already in each classroom because of the 21st Century Classroom Pilot project.
More information will be shared as it becomes available regarding avenues to provide input on the SPLOST III initiative.
Mt. Bethel Partner in Education, the Bank of North Georgia, recently helped sponsor the Annual Fifth Grade Service Project with Milford Elementary School. The Mt. Bethel fifth grade students traveled to Milford and worked with students in kindergarten and first grade. Besides creating Valentine crafts, the students worked together to write letters to American servicemen and women. The Bank of North Georgia provided funds for the transportation. We truly appreciate their willingness to support such a worthwhile project.
