Welcome to Science Lab!

Welcome parents and students to  Science Lab for the 2007-2008 school year.  First, let me start by introducing myself, my name is Penny Walleshauser and I will be teaching K-5 in the science lab.  I'm excited to be given this opportunity to work with the students of Mt.Bethel in the "hands on" part of science.

I've spent a lot of the summer researching and studying the topics of the curriculum.  I have come up with many activities and projects for the students to do.  A little overview of the first topics that the students will working on:

K, 2 & 5 will be working on the subject of Matter.

1 & 4 will be working on Weather and Water.

3rd grade will be working on Rocks, Minerals and Fossils.

Due to the wonderful support from the foundation the lab is loaded with tons of "gizmo's and gadgets" that will make the Science Lab totally awesome and exciting.

I'm looking forward to a wonderful year working with the students of Mt. Bethel.

Did you know...

Something historical will happen on August 27th!

The red planet is about to be spectacular!

This month and next, Earth is catching up with Mars in an encounter that will result in the closest approach between the two planets in recorded history.  The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287.

Due to the way Jupiter's gravity tugs on Mars and perturbs its orbit astronomers can only be certain that has not come this close to Earth in the last 5,000 years.

The encounter will happen on August 27th when Mars comes to within 34,649,589 miles of Earth and will be (next to the moon) th brightest object in the night sky.

So mark your calenders for this great event.
