School Council Meeting

The Mt. Bethel School Council meeting has been changed to Tuesday, February 26, 2008.  The council will be meeting in Ms. Sherann Bush's classroom at 2:30 pm.

The meeting was called to order at 2:25. First we announced that the 1st newspaper has oficially been sold! It is called the "Sailor Scoop". Then, the mail committee reported. We decided to send a card to three more people and that every grade would have a mail every week of a certain month. We will elaborate on that. Lastly, we took some questions. The meeting was adjourned at 3:00.

Meeting Schedule 2007-2008

All school council meetings will be at 2:30pm at Mt. Bethel Elementary School unless otherwise stated.

General Information

Why do we have a school council?
*The A+ Education Reform Act (HB1187) established school councils in Georgia to "bring communities and schools closer together."

What does the school council do?
*Provides advice, recommendations, and assistance to principals and local boards of education.

Who serves on the school council?
*The Principal                                                                                                                            *Two certified teachers are elected by the teachers
*Two parents (or gruadians) are elected by the parents.
*Two businesspersons chosen by the non-business members of the council.

What are the responsibilities of the members?
*Maintain a school-wide perspective on issues.
*Regularly participate in council meetings.
*Participate in information adn training programs.
*Act as a link between the school adn the community.
*Work to imporve student achievement and performance.
