PTA has been asked to help with the immediate needs of the families who are flood victims. A meeting was held on Friday, September 25th to determine the best way we provide disaster relief while coordinating with a number of non-profit organizations, churches, Cobb Emergency Operations, Cobb Disaster Recovery, American Red Cross, United Way, and the like!

The Mt. Bethel 2009-2010 Yearbook planning is underway! A huge thank you goes out to everyone who volunteered to serve on the Yearbook Committee. In order to have a great yearbook, we need MANY photos. So please help us by taking pictures of our children. One way to do this is by uploading your pictures directly to the yearbook website…It is EASY!
The Yearbook Committee invites teachers and parents to submit photos for the yearbook. If you've got great photos of school events, we'd like to see them. Our photographers can't be everywhere.
Here is how you can submit photos online:
Submit your photos today! The last day to submit photos is February 22, 2010.
We still need ―official photographers to take six to eight photos in the areas listed below. If you have a child participating in any of these activities, this is your opportunity to photograph your child with their friends and get their smiling face in the yearbook!

Looking for easy and FREE ways to help support Mt. Bethel‘s wonderful school programs and events? Donating recyclable materials to Mt. Bethel helps us turn Trash into Cash! The Green Team is currently accepting the following items:
Used printer cartridges
Instead of dropping used printer cartridges in the trash, drop them off with us. Mt. Bethel can receive up to $2 per recycled cartridge! You can drop off cartridges in the bin located by the water fountain in the front entry.
Old or broken electronics
Have old or broken cell phones, laptops, iPods, Nintendo DS consoles, digital cameras, or digital video cameras? Mt. Bethel can earn up to $300 per item for recycling these types of electronics.
Newspapers, Paper, Magazines, and Aluminum Cans
Let us help you reduce your trash at home! Just bring your aluminum cans, newspapers, paper, and magazines to the individual collection bins located in the back corner of the front parking lot. Mt. Bethel receives cash for this type of trash, too!
Thanks for your support in reducing landfill waste and providing additional income to our school!
Mt. Bethel‘s Green Team is participating in Nike's Reuse-A-Shoe program, where athletic shoes are recycled into a material used to create sports surfaces for playgrounds and outdoor courts that are being donated to communities all over the globe.
So, instead of throwing out those old shoes, recycle them at Night in the Park(ing) Lot! We'll take any style (tennis, basketball, running, etc), brand, size, or condition!
Just follow your nose to our (smelly) collection site during Night in the Park(ing) Lot, on Friday September 4th!
At the Georgia PTA State Convention this July,
Mt. Bethel was extremely honored to be one of only two schools in the entire state
to receive the Georgia PTA Presidents 500 Circle Award. This award, also
given to Cheatham Hill Elementary, was created to acknowledge the
efforts of both the programs supported by our PTA and the
countless volunteers who make our PTA so successful for the children.
Mt. Bethel PTA also received 1st place for 9th district Outstanding Local Unit!
In lieu of our annual gift wrap sale fundraiser, Mt. Bethel PTA will be launching a new and exciting program next year! The Boosterthon Fundraising Program is a STUDENT LED, VALUES-CENTERED, FITNESS-BASED program that will be held August 24 – September 3.
The PTA is excited about implementing this program as a fresh idea to fundraising to support our many wonderful programs at Mt. Bethel. We are equally as excited about the opportunity to show our students that FITNESS IS FUN and to promote the values and character education that are included in the Boosterthon program. Also, unlike our sales-based fundraisers, all monies collected will be tax deductible and EVERY child will be able to participate in the fun regardless of their participation in the fundraising.
Boosterthon has been a huge hit with students, faculty, and families at many local schools and we are looking forward to bringing it to Mt. Bethel.

It is important for children to come to school emotionally and
physically healthy. Studies have shown that children’s physical
well-being has a significant effect on their learning and long-term
success. When children are well-rested, well-nourished, and physically
fit they are more ready to learn.
Every parent wants his or her child to be happy and healthy. Parents share the responsibility of ensuring their child's well-being with teachers, the community, its members, and all its services. Learning the facts about various health concerns is key to this common effort.

We’ve had a wonderful year of cultural arts presentations - music genres from classical to blues to jazz to opera, with a wide variety of musical instruments; exciting theatrical performances, such as Nate the Great and Hansel & Gretel; and of course, the thrilling storytelling talents of Eric Litwin, Carmen Deedy,
and Yolanda Hernandez! Who can forget the fun-filled performance by FoodPlay, featuring a little of everything -juggling, music, magic, and of course, funny characters - with an emphasis on healthy habits, nutritional eating, and exercise!
We’re looking forward to providing the students with another year of creative and inspiring performances to bring out the artist in everyone!
