                               HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!! Dreidel_1

Rudolf_reindeer_blinking_lights_md_clr_1 I hope you're enjoying this very special time of year.  The children have enjoyed sharing their holiday traditions with classmates.  We also learned about six more holidays from around the world at the Cultural Celebration.  It was a wonderful display.

Bang_2006_sm_nwm I will send out new calendars for the second half of the year.  Thanks to Cathy Schwartz for preparing these for the class.  As I've said before, I couldn't do it without you.  Your support gives each child the opportunity to work with a reading group several times a week.  In my opinion, that is the most important part of the school day!  I love that I can give the children my attention while I know that the others are busy and able to get help if needed.  THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO!!

Please always send a warm coat to school with your child!  When it is possible, we try to go outside to run around at least for a couple of minutes.  It makes the rest of our day much more pleasant if we can run off some energy!

Thanks to Kim Arasin and Jane Fox who stayed with the class while I attended a lovely holiday brunch!  The kids enjoyed a fun music lesson.  My brunch was lovely.

Our winter holiday centers will be on Wednesday,  December 21 from 9:15 - 10:30!  All parents are Joy_peeking_around_snowman_md_clr_1_1 invited.  Adults only, please!  Our theme will be snowmen.

I realize that next week will be very busy.  Homework is optional next week!

This month's optional report is something different!  I told the children to imagine they had received a very special gift.  They get to go on a vacation of theirPenguin_in_icehole_lg_nwm_2 r choice!  They should learn about the place they would like to visit.  The children can either write a report, a book, make a poster, or create a pamphlet about this place.  It can be anywhere in the world!  These are due on December 21!

Enjoy a wonderful holiday season and I wish you a happy and healthy 2006!

Today you'll receive the new reading calendar, homework calendar, and math games!  If you haven't turned in the homework from November, please send it tomorrow.  I am so pleased that the children are doing their homework!  Thanks for your support.

Girl_reading_school_book_sm_nwm I am so pleased with the progress I am seeing in reading!  Thanks for doing such a great job of keeping up with the reading folders.  Your work at home makes all of the difference!

Fireman_climbing_fire_ladder_sm_nwm Our fire safety lessons are going really well.  Thanks for assisting your child in learning about a safety plan at your house.  We will continue our lessons with the firemen next week.  They do an excellent job of teaching the children what to do in case of a fire.

Our winter holiday centers will be on Wednesday, Carl_and_johnny_making_snowman_sm_nwm December 21 from 9:15 - 10:30!  All parents are invited.  Adults only, please!  Our theme will be snowmen.
