Thanksgiving

We had a great time at the Tullie Smith House!  I took several pictures.  When I receive the permission forms from all of you (see folder tonight) I'll put the pictures on this site!  They are cute.

Unfortunately, next week is my jury duty.  I would much rather be with the children!  I am very fortunate that Joanne Aglialoro, a regular sub at Mt. Bethel, has blocked off the entire week for me.  Hopefully I won't need her for the whole week.  However, I won't have to worry about having a different sub each day as I know if I have to go back each day.  She is a great sub and I appreciate her thoughtfulness in not taking other jobs during the week.

Please remember that we have a child with a nut allergy in the class.  Please do not send nuts or peanut butter for snack!  THANKS!

Turkey_dancing_md_clr_1 Don't forget the Turkey Day Centers on Friday, November 18 from 9:15 - 10:30.  All parents are invited.  I HOPE to be back!

Optional Thanksgiving reports are due on Friday, November 18.  The children can create a report about the "First Thanksgiving" or a book about their own family traditions.  I look forward to seeing them!

I am canceling center moms for next week.  I apologize.  However, I feel that it is too difficult for a substitute to do reading groups.  Therefore, they will do whole group reading activities for the week.  The substitute will be the center mom for center time.  Thanks for your understanding.

Thanksgiving_text_turkeys_md_clr_1 Please don't forget the plastic folders and three ring binders.  They are working so well.  I know the children love them.

Have a great weekend!

WISH LIST!Copia

Many of the children brought new folders and notebooks this week.  I am happy to say that they are working out really well.  The children love their new supplies!  For those who didn't have a chance to see this last week, please see the information below!

I have a request.  We are really enjoying writing workshop.  However, our writing folders aren't strong enough to last.  I would love it if each child would bring a 1/2" or 3/4" three ring binder.  I feel that this would be much easier.  The folders are falling apart already!Bigbook

Also, our reading folders wear out quickly.  I bought the plastic folders for the "take home" folders and I love them.  I would like to use these folders for the books each day.  If you would like, please send a plastic folder for your child.  You can send these in whenever it is convenient.  It is optional.  I just feel that they would be helpful to the students!Pilgrims_1

OPTIONAL REPORT

The science optional reports were AWESOME!  I was so impressed.  The children who completed these reports were thrilled to share them in class.  We look forward to sharing the November projects, too.

Next month's optional report will be about Thanksgiving.  It can either be a report about Jturfish_2 the first Thanksgiving or it can be a book about your own family Thanksgiving traditions.  These reports are due on Friday, November 18.  We'll share them in class.  There will be an optional report each month.  It will always be explained in class and it will be on the blog site, too!

TURKEY DAY CENTERS

Friday, November 18 from 9:15 - 10:30!  All parents are invited!  We'll enjoy a fun morning, similar to Scarecrow Day Centers!  It will be a fun way to begin a week off.  Adults only, please!

Jury Duty

Lucky me!  Beginning on November 14, I have jury duty.  I hope that I won't be out for long.  However, who knows?  Last time this happened, I was out for three days.  I just wanted to warn you ahead of time.  I just hope I'll be back before the end of the week.  This is the week right before Thanksgiving break.

Tuesday, November 8 is Election Day.  The children have a day off.

Thanks for sending in the pretty leaves.  We completed our leaf pictures yesterday.  They are beautiful!  The children also wrote about these projects during writing workshop.  Turkey_1
