A huge success last year, the MBESF Science Fair is back again for its second year, Thursday, October 1st, 5:30-7:00!  It's a fun, non-judged event celebrating scientific learning.  Students can work alone, with partners, siblings, or even a parent can get involved!  Join us and see how much fun science can be!

New this year - 4th & 5th grade students who wish to participate in the Science Olympiad, must enter an individual project in the Science Fair.

Do you like to help in your child's classroom?  Do you have 1 1/2 hours free periodically to volunteer as a parent substitute? 

Our Parent Volunteer Substitute program enables Mt. Bethel teachers an opportunity get together and plan as grade level teams.  Teachers use this planning time to review grade level standards and assess student data in order to better meet the need of our students!

ALL parents who wish to participate in the Trained Parent Volunteer Program for the 2009-2010 school year MUST attend the training session on Friday, August 28, 2009 at 9:30am in the Mt. Bethel Cafeteria. 

H1N1 Flu Update for Parents

In an effort to keep Mt. Bethel parents informed about the H1N1 Flu, a letter was sent home to the parents detailing basic information about H1N1 flu, how the Cobb County School District is preparing and responding and what you can do to protect your family’s health.

The PTA is excited about implementing this program as a fresh idea to fundraising in support of our wonderful programs at Mt. Bethel. We are equally excited about the opportunity to show our students that fitness is fun and to promote the values and character education that are included in the Boosterthon Program. Also, unlike our sales-based fundraisers, all monies collected will be tax deductible and every child will be able to participate in the fun regardless of their participation in the fundraising.

Please help stock Powers Ferry Elementary School's classrooms with much needed supplies!  Suggested items are listed below by grade level. Bins will be located at the front of the school.

1st Grade – Disinfecting Wipes
2nd Grade – Hand Sanitizer
3rd Grade – Tissues
4th Grade – Ziplock Bags
5th Grade – Bandages

A Kid's Life: This creative musical, featuring seven original songs, starts with a massive electromagnetic attack from outer space which jams all technical systems! The kids are in a panic until Grandpa and Grandma introduce them to a day filled with adventure, music and imagination - without any fancy gadgets!

Back to school means many new changes, including changes to the back field by the rainbow playground. We now have a new jogging track, 6 exercise stations (including a balance beam, parallel bars, jumpy beams, horizontal ladder, tire run and pull-up bars), 2 new lights, and a courtyard with 4 benches.  Come check it out and enjoy!

Special thanks to all the parents, staff and teachers at Mt. Bethel who supported the project through their brick purchases!  Thank you to the many volunteers who helped over the summer!  Thank you also to the Lowes Toolbox Foundation who gave Mt. Bethel Elementary a $4,500 grant which was used to purchase the exercise equipment, to the Woodlawn Chick-Fil-A who provided food and Caribou Coffee who provided coffee for the volunteers and to Charles Hodges Ltd. Gardens for designing the courtyard and track.
