Letter People Parade was great!  Your children looked absolutely fabulous!  Thanks for helping with this.

Next Friday is Art in the Park.  They can get messy so wear appropriate clothes.  Please wear tennis shoes, no sandals.

Remember all library books are due.  We still have a few that have not been returned.

3.  Finished our study on butterflies.  We released them into the nature center.

2.  Send back RSVP for Award's Day.  A note came home today about this.

Update...5.2.08

4956309maysign The year has flown by.  We are now in our last month of school.  There are many fun activities planned for this month as we rap up the year.  I hope everyone is planning to come to The Letter People Parade on Tuesday.  Come early for a good seat as the house will be packed!  Then come back to the room for a short visit to get your child's costume.  Remember to send your child dressed in their costume on Tuesday morning.

Put May 19th on your calendar.  This is our awards day.  It will be in our room from 8:30-9:15.  The class has worked so hard this year, so let's celebrate their achievements on this day!  You won't want to miss this!

All library books are due next Friday.  We will not be checking out any more books at this library.  I hope you will visit the Cobb libraries.

Weekly Highlights...

1. Met our last letter person of the year - Mr. Z.

2. Practiced for letter people.

3. Learned about zoo animals.  We shared our reports.  We learned lots of interesting facts about these animals.  Great job!

4.  Started our unit on plants.

5.  Working on using ing,ed,er and s correctly.

6.  Finished our Math problem solving books.  We are really good at solving word problems and have become very good thinkers.

Weekly Assignments...

1.  Return all library books on Friday.

2.  On the last day of school, we will be having pizza and other treats.  Please send in $2 cash by Friday for the pizza.  No book bags will be allowed the last day of school.

3.  Please send 3-4 new books for silent reading time.

4.  Please return all registration forms.  Don't forget the stamps, and please check them over carefully.

Update...4.25.08

Xlanimation_thumb3 Thanks for working with your child to learn their letter people poem.  I can't wait to see their costumes.  I hope everyone will be there.  You are invited to come back to the room after the show for just a few minutes as we take pictures and honor our moms.  Please send your child dressed in their costume with extra clothes for the day.  You will take their costume home with you.

You received a note about Art in the Park.  We hope to see lots of dads.  It is a really fun day for the students.

3.  Working on telling time to the hour and half hour.

4.  Completed our study on the four seasons.

5.  Took a wonderful trip the Cagel's Farm.  What great weather we had!

Update...4.17.08

Farmer_on_tractor Welcome back!  It seems like everyone had a great spring break.  Next week is CRCT testing for grades 1-5.  Please be on time.  No one is allowed in the halls from 7:55-10:30.

Next Tuesday is our field trip to Cagel Farm.  We will be outside the whole day.  Please wear your green class shirt and shorts or pants and tennis shoes.  We will be doing a lot of walking.  Moms going on the trip please be in the classroom at 8:45.  Remember if you are bringing a lunch,  put everything in a paper bag.

The chicks arrived safely at the farm and are doing very well.  We now have caterpillars in our room.

Thank you to everyone for your support for Relay for Life for Cancer Research.  There will be a talent show on Friday (tonight)  at  7:00 which my own children will be dancing in  and a kickball game on next Tuesday after school.  I'm sure you have received flyers on both.

Update 4.4.08

4950633sunflower It has been a very exciting week with the  hatching of our chicks. We had the great experience of watching  a chick coming out of the shell. We will take the chicks back to the farm on Friday ,so they can grow up and develop in a larger area.

2. Finished our Math Unit about graphs and data.

3. Started learning about time.

4. Looking  at and sorting animals according to their skin covering, movement, etc.

5. Discovered that many animals lay eggs.

6. Talked about the jungle and animals who live there.

7. Read and made many words using all our vowels.
